The Very Busy Spider (Board Book) Review
User Submitted The Very Busy Spider (Board Book) ReviewsNovember 2, 2008 Great Book! The book was as described. Great condition and was shipped super fast! Great seller!! September 7, 2008 The Very Busy Spider I have received and reviewed the book "The Very Busy Spider". It is a very good book and nicely illustrated. March 31, 2008 Just OK Review by Sherry North, Author, Because You Are My Baby Eric Carle is a favorite in our house, but this is one of his weaker titles. The illustration of the spider spinning her web barely changes from one page to the next, and there's no clever twist that "makes" the book, like in A Very Hungry Caterpillar. After reading it to our son once, he never seemed interested in looking at it again - but he does ask for Carle's other books often. February 19, 2008 One of Hayley's Favourites My husband bought this book for our 9month old daughter, Hayley. She absolutely loves us to read it to her. She loves to feel the spiders web and will mimic the animal noises. What a great book! December 17, 2007 the very busy spider My son had a copy of this that he had to return. He had the paperback with the raised web that you could trace with your fingers. Grandma bought a replacement which was a flap book instead..... just wasn't the same, so we bought the paperback on line, and it was the immediate success of the past....... November 15, 2007 Good book for a "reading" toddler My two-year-old enjoys reading this book. While the book is repetitive, it enables a toddler to "read" along with you and complete the sentences. The book is replete with farm animals, a common feature in children's books, and the web that the spider is building is raised, so children can trace it with their fingers. August 12, 2007 Boring and repetitive I love Eric Carle's art and several of his other stories, but this one is really boring and repetitive. There's not enough variety to the images, the spider comes across as a real pill who has no interest in other creatures, and the story line is dull. Skip this and go for the chameleon or caterpillar or polar bear. August 9, 2007 Not so great. Not one of Eric Carle's best. As usual, the illustrations are fabulous, but the story didn't interest our littleone. July 8, 2007 Cute Book, But Not Our Favorite Eric Carle Book My 21 month old loves Eric Carle books. She liked this one as well, but like others have mentioned it doesn't seem to hold her attention nearly as well as other Carle books do. Her favorites are "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" and "The Very Lonely Firefly". The illustrations are as bright and colorful as they are in the other books though and the story is short enough for most toddler's to sit through. May 6, 2007 Mom's favorite No gimmicks, lights, or sounds here so it's not as fascinating for my son. I try to jazz it up a little bit with the animal noises and different animal voices which my son seems to enjoy. This is a good one for bedtime.
