The Sneetches and Other Stories: Mini Edition (Dr Seuss Mini Edition) Review
User Submitted The Sneetches and Other Stories: Mini Edition (Dr Seuss Mini Edition) ReviewsNovember 11, 2008 Great Book I knew I loved this book before I ordered it, so that wasn't an issue. But it arrived quickly and in good condition. September 21, 2008 Great use for social emotional literacy In my school district we talk a lot about social, emotional literacy. This book is great in showing students that differences and individuality is what makes everyone unique and exciting. I used this book with seventh grade students and they loved the fact that I was reading them a storybook. For many students it has been so long since an adult has read them a storybook but I feel it is important to continue to model how to read fluently. July 1, 2008 Dr. Suess is the best at teaching good things in a fun way. This book shows that a looking different doesn't make a person less fun or likeable. It has great rhymes, & is a quick read before sleep time. May 15, 2008 LESSONS LEARNED FOR LIFE Seuss teaches so much to my daughter that I would have a hard time starting a conversation about. My daughter doesn't quite get the stories so she asks me and we have great conversations about right and wrong. April 29, 2008 Wonderful collection of stories I ordered this after seeing it on Amazon. It was one of my favorite books growing up and I wanted to share it with my three daughters (8,6,& 2). After reading "The Sneetches" to my 6 year-old, she looked at me and said that it wasn't very nice to treat people badly because they aren't the same as us. I was thrilled that she got the meaning of that story right away. Dr. Seuss is a genius for getting these moral points across in a way that children understand and making it so fun at the same time. She thought that "The Zax" was funny. She didn't understand why they just didn't compromise. Every story in this book has an important lesson and it's such a great way to spend time with your children too! April 27, 2008 The sneetches My 3, now 4 year old loves this book. He loves all the stories but especially the last one about the pale green pants. He likes to feel a little scared (boys!) and then have a happy ending, so this story with its good messege is a perfect match for him. He can "read" it to me from memory. It's amazing. He says that McMonkey Mcbean in the Sneetches, isn't a very nice little monkey." It slays me every time, and he's learning a great lesson. His Dad's name is Dave, so that story if fun and makes him laugh. He would pick this book almost every night for his bedtime story if I would let him. March 5, 2008 The Sneetches and other stories All I can say, The Sneetches and other Stories, was so loved by my kids, I had to buy it and send it with them when they left for college! We still recite it (almost all by memory) and laugh at ourselves.G-d rest Dr. Suess...his books will live on forever. February 17, 2008 Dr.Seuss finest Nobody can wrap up smart life lessons better than Dr Seuss. Amazing stories about sneetches that are tricked into buying and/or removing the stars on their bellies. My fav after "Oh, the places you go!" The drawing are very fine too. Nothing quite like Dr.Suess! February 16, 2008 poor condition The last three pages of the book, The Sneeches , were ripped out. I didn't dicsover it until I went to read the book to my class and was so surprised and annoyed! February 12, 2008 It never gets old The Sneetches, by Dr. Seuss is about sneetches that are very segregated. There are two types of sneetches: star-bellied and plain-bellied. The star-bellied sneetches are very exclusive and only invite other star-bellied sneetches to their parties and picnics and frankfurter roasts. This makes the plain-bellied sneetches really sad. Everything changes, though, when Sylvester McMonkey McBean shows up. He has a machine that can put star on plain-bellied sneetches, so of course, they all get stars. But when the original star-bellied sneetches find out about this, they're really mad. They get their stars taken off by Sylvester. Soon, a horrible mess is made. Everyone is getting their stars taken off and then put back on until they realize that it doesn't matter whether they have stars or not. The Sneetches is a great book. It teaches that looks don't matter and to accept people just the way they are. This book is geared toward younger kids, but I think that anyone would enjoy it. This was one of my favorite books when I was little and it never gets old. -Claire Bonnyman For more The Sneetches and Other Stories: Mini Edition (Dr Seuss Mini Edition) reviews click here.
