Richard Scarry's Please and Thank You Book (Pictureback(R)) Review
User Submitted Richard Scarry's Please and Thank You Book (Pictureback(R)) ReviewsNovember 23, 2008 PLEASE AND THANK YOU BOOK I PURCHASED FOR MY 2 YEAR OLD GRANDSON. I THOUGHT IT WAS A LITTLE TO OLD FOR HIM. IT HAD A LOT OF WORDS AND YOU KNOW TODDLERS DON'T SIT STILL FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME. IT IS A GOOD BOOK BUT FOR OLDER TODDLERS. August 26, 2008 exactly what I expected well, as the title of the book suggests, this is a book about good manners, being polite and what not. My 2 year old girl likes it already, although I think it would be even better for older children, they could follow more easily the stories with their favourite characters from Richard Scarry (great drawings!!!). There are 7 short stories, each of them dealing with a particular topic: how to behave at parties, or with your parents asking for help, or in the street, or with neighbors. all of them are nice and funny. Both boys and girls will enjoy them, also thanks to the brilliant pictures! February 10, 2008 To Save for Toddler to Pre-School Years Since it's difficult to get children to sit and read often, this book is a bit difficult without "real-life" situations and examples, so whenever I take my child out, I always try my best to make sure that she hears me say "please" and "thank-you" so she will learn those niceties as well as other cultural assistance that will make her a young lady throughout life even if life often doesn't accommodate. This book will be put up until she is ready for the harder concepts of visualization, until she can put reality together with the written word, but it is a WINNER!!! January 28, 2008 Richard Scarry's Please and Thank-You Book This book represents a childhood favorite of both my children. It is no longer available in book stores, so I was delighted to find used copies available so that I can buy it for my new grandson. So far I have been telling him the stories just from memory, but the original is priceless. We especially adore the "Pig Will, Pig Won't" story which teaches kids to have a positive attitude. The Pig Won't character is a wonderful example of what NOT to be, and is also great fun to imitate while reading the story. Who will buy this book? "I will," says Pig Will. "I won't," says Pig Won't. So Pig Won't will miss all the fun. January 12, 2008 A classic in our family! All four of my children had this book read to them many, many times when they were young, and I can attest to the fact that it all sunk in! In fact, now in their 20's, they still quote this book. I'm purchasing another today, for my second grandchild. I'm so glad it's still available! Great book! It gives really cute, friendly examples of the benefits of manners and helping others. September 22, 2007 Richard Scarry's Please & thank-you book Richard Scarry's Please and Thank You Book (Pictureback(R)) I originally bought this book for my son and now I'm buying it for my grand son. It is an excellent book, kids love it and it teaches good values. All the Richard Scarry books are excellent! They hold the child's attention and they learn without realizing it. I always enjoyed them as well, they are fun for the adult to read to their children. May 13, 2007 An outstanding book on manners for children Our daughters had this book when they were children in the late 70's and it was always one of their favorites; they still talk about it now (late 20's and early 30's). We have just bought a new copy for our recently born grand-daughter and are sure she will love it just as much. Many of our friends are familiar with this book, especially all the 'Pests' so brilliantly portrayed. February 16, 2007 "He's the tops I can't get enough Richard Scary books for my grandchildren. The books are pointed to real situations or lessons, and they are written in a manner that doesn't bore the adult to tears. In fact, I used to love going through the original "Best Word Book" before it was revised to be politically correct. Newer versions have lost some of the suble humor (the bear dressed as an Indian holding an ice cream cone for the "i" on the alphabet pages). Nonetheless, the Scary books are gentle, educative and entertaining. What more could you want? January 9, 2007 cute My daughter likes this book a lot, and it is fun to read and look at, though she hasn't yet learned to say please and thank you! January 3, 2007 ok but not that great I read it so long ago that I actually forgot why I was not so impressed and I already gave the book away to my grandkids so I actually can't peek at it again. I think I recall not caring for the pictures. The choice of animals were not friendly or pleasant. I usually love Richard's books.
