Richard Scarry's Best Word Book Ever (Giant Little Golden Book) Review
User Submitted Richard Scarry's Best Word Book Ever (Giant Little Golden Book) ReviewsDecember 1, 2008 Condition of the book The book was advartised to be in excellent condition however the binding in the book is torn almost halfway thruogh September 19, 2008 I love Richard Scarry books! I love these books by Richard Scarry. I bought them when my children were small, and I bought this one for my 5 month old grandson. Even though he doesn't understand the words and pictures, he loves the colors, and there is so much to look at that they really entertain him. The other day he was kind of cranky so I sat in the rocker with him and read two of the books. He was asleep before I finished the second book, but I kept reading because I wanted to see what happened. You can't go wrong with these books for children of all ages! September 4, 2008 Great book if you don't mind having to read it all the time! My 17month daughter loves this book! I was into Richard Scarry books growing up and really wanted my baby to like it. Initially I was afraid the illustrations would be too busy for her, but that is clearly not the case. This book is one of three books (the others are big book of animals and book of words) she brings to me just about every thirty minutes, which is driving me a little crazy but I'll just have to deal with it. She really gets into the scenes especially scenes of the circus, zoo, farm, grocery, home, beach, ships, trains, etc. and has built up quite the vocabulary. She's saying the names of the animals and their sounds, bodyparts, the landscape such as tree, sun, moon, cloud, flower and can point to most anything in the pages. The scenes of the airport, trucks and "when you grow up" aren't engaging her yet but I'm sure later when she gets it more. Richard Scarry books are a beloved classic, they are and will be on the bookshelf in our home (until the grandkids). ;) August 8, 2008 It really IS the BEST word book ever! I LOVE this book! I had it when I was a child. My favorite word in it is on the kitchen page "Batter Spoon"!!! June 25, 2008 Best Kids Books I can't forget this book, because of it had several great factors. It covered almost every place a kid may see, with it's name to know what the object is. Each page shows kids different work spaces, lands, city life, even inside a home, room by room. This would be an excellent book for preschoolers, and even younger as well. Children and their parents may create their own stories with the detailed scenes. May 23, 2008 #1 word learning book ever I had this book as a child, although the version I had was longer and more PC. This is a great word learning book. The only drawback is that all the characters are animals, so it has to be for a child who knows the animals are simply playing people roles and doing people things. I would recommend to anyone with kids. You cannot go wrong with this book. The older version is better since it has more pages (20 more pages), but it is hard to find in good condition and at a decent price. April 29, 2008 Great for language and vocabulary development I always purchas this book for baby showers and any gift for very young children. It is wonderful to use for early language development or anyone wishing to learn the English names for nouns. My son wore out three copies and I always kept at least one copy in my classroom as well as my home. Cheryl White April 1, 2008 Love it! This was a favorite book of mine growing up. I just bought it for my 21 month old son, and he loves it as well!! A classic that every child should have! February 10, 2008 Shorter Version of Richard Scarry's Dictionary This is an excellent book after the child has understood concepts of numbers, colors, shapes and is beginning to explore the world around them. It explores the home, the market, cars, trucks, planes, and other concepts that are around them sometimes and that they see not only in person, but possibly on t.v. or talk about in school in class or with family and friends. It also covers the parts of the body and clothing items too. LLO'C January 28, 2008 Super Scarry Learning Tool! This wonderful book has been around for years, teaching generations of kids the wonderful world of words. Richard Scarry organizes words under categories, such as tools, the playground, the supermarket, etc. It's a fun way to learn, and the illustrations are fabulous and vibrant. If you have children in your circle, you should make it your business to give them this book -- and give them the gift of learning!
