Little Dog ReviewsAugust 17, 2008 Not what I expected- I purchased this book because it is written in Spanish with English subtitles and I thought it would be a fun way to teach Spanish to my two year old son. But the book lacks imagination and excitement. It is almost weird to read. I've been reading to my little boy since he was a newborn and needless to say, he loves being read to. He knows what he likes and will pick out the book he wants me to read to him. He was intrigued by the book cover and asked me to read it to him. Not one minute into the reading, he was already picking out another book! I thought it could be the age factor so I read it to my friend's 6 year old- the result was the same! If you're looking for a good book that will capture your little one's attention and will contribute to his/her bilingual needs, this is NOT the book- However, this is my opinion, and it is not necessarily what you may experience if you were to read it to your child. I hope my review is helpful =o) May 7, 2008 Nice bilingual book for the price Cute little story about a big dog and a little dog who like opposite things. It's pretty obvious that the Spanish was translated from English (as opposed to being originally written in Spanish), but with that said the Spanish seems well translated. Good book for the price. February 17, 2008 Love it! I read this to my 4-year-old daughter only in Spanish the first few times and she LOVED it. The pictures and ideas convey the meaning of, (what is to her), a foreign language so well! As a barely-fluent speaker myself, the book introduced a few new fun vocabulary words. The context of the story very clearly depicted for her the meanings of the words "despacio" and "deprisa" which quickly turned into a game of running around the house in each of the two manners. Once she realized that the little words underneath were in English, she refused to hear the story in Spanish, but with patience on my part, that has changed slightly :0) The story is just plain really cute, too. February 10, 2008 children of the Dominican I have a non-profit corp. and took those books to the Dominican and they really enjoyed the book-I would recommend it for youngsters-6-10 Roger/Dominican Team for Dreams,Inc Florida February 3, 2008 Excellent bilingual book I know a handful of Spanish vocabulary and wanted to expose my infant son to the sounds and cadence of the language. This is a fun book although if you're a Spanish novice, some of the word tenses are a little tough to sound out. It is paperback though - I was hoping for a board book so he could turn the pages while we read. He loves it anyway. November 29, 2007 This book is fun and easy to read!!!!! Love it just wish it was a board book my one year old loves to flip the pages i know he's reading in his little head but the pages get crinkled so thats why i wish it was a board book.......easy and fun to read. October 13, 2007 Great introductory vocabulary and contrast of opposites... This book is rife with introductory vocabulary: up/down green/red long/short fast/slow which makes it great for preschoolers attempting Spanish as a second language. I like the way it USES opposites (and similarities) without just stating them as many introductory books do. The Spanish flows easily and the only odd/idiomatic dialogue in the book would have to be the "The bird's got the word" near the end. If you aren't convinced this is a good bilingual book, try the look inside function, and hit "surprise me" a number of times! June 29, 2007 Just what I was looking for! I have 2 kids, one is[...] and is learning to read, and the other is [..] and already is reading well, but they both LOVE it. It's easy enough for my [...]because the pictures make her guess what it's all about and then she reads it, and it's good for my [..] to learn too. March 13, 2006 Muy divertido.
