Just a cute, silly, kinda pointless book about hippos and their love of their belly buttons. My sister and I have taken to quoting this book at random intervals throughout the day. It grows on you. It's not as catchy as most of Boynton's work, but it definitely has its own charm. July 12, 2008 Not impressed with this one... We own many Boynton books and this is the least favorite. The story encourages toddlers to call their belly button's a nickname instead of its actual name, which I don't agree with. My son does likes the pictures, but does not care to listen to the actual story like he does his other books. June 10, 2008 Super Duper Checked ths out at the library and loved it so much we bought it! Cute and witty. Parent's don't miss the t-shirt texts and details kids will miss... We all call our belly buttons "Bee-Boo"s now! April 14, 2008 My daughter's favorite!! My daughter is only 4 months old, but, for some reason, she LOVES this book. We read together all the time, and we read many different books, but this is her favorite. When I get it out she wiggles and smiles. She loves to hold the side of the book and turn the pages. When I sing the little song near the end, she makes noise and sings along. We have so much fun reading this book. I saw that some reviewers were upset that the hippos wear "bathing suits too little". For goodness sake, these are drawings of hippos! It is funny! How are the hippos supposed to show off their belly buttons in a one-piece? :) We love this book. I think it's funny for both kids and parents. The drawings are very cute. March 8, 2008 Hippos are huge! All of Sandra Boynton's books are terrific and highly recommended. As far as the hippos being 'immodest' - come on where are you going to find clothes big enough for a hippo? I'm sure that when a child looks at pictures of a hippo (do they really wear clothes?!!!), that they are going to see more than a hippo who is half-dressed and being immodest. It's supposed to be funny - if that is what the parent sees - then maybe that is what the child will see. I think her books are wonderful, funny, and my 2 1/2 yo loves them, as well as my 10 mo old. February 25, 2008 Another family who loves this book! My son has enjoyed this book since he was 12 months old. The silly, sing-songy rhymes entertain us all. February 17, 2008 Fun! My 14 month old LOVES this book and now finds everyone's belly buttons fun. Great for teaching body parts to young children. February 17, 2008 Cute and funny... This book makes me smile and laugh every time I read it to my daughter. The only criticism I have is that the hippos wear "bathing suits too little" and "don't do much throughout the day". The hippos are not indecent in any way but these aren't values I want to instill. Other than that, it is cute with sing-song rhythms and fun pictures of hippos. February 9, 2008 Belly Button Book My first Boynton. Now I'm collecting them all for my great niece. I even shared "beebo" with my co-workers. Outstanding author for very young children. January 20, 2008 So Fun! As with all of Sandra Boynton's books, this one is totally fun! My daughter laughed her head off the first 100 times we read it.
