They are 6 years old and they gained a good understanding about how their words not only can hurt each other but also their friends. They were also able to tell me how when I get angry I make them feel. I would recommend this book. September 9, 2008 I bought the wrong book I bought this book for my son's collection of best behavior books but it is not the same board book collection that he has, they have 2 different collections of books with the same name, so I had to return it and order the right one. Another book that should be read by every parent and teacher of children 3-12 is Bully-Proofing Children: A Practical, Hands-On Guide to Stop Bullying.Parents and teachers can learn to create nurturing environments where children can get along;help children to express anger and use words to resolve conflict;teach social skills including friendship.... It's simple message is SO important, particularly for toddlers who are just learning how language can be helpful and hurtful. This book has great pictures and images, and a powerful message that should be reinforced in all toddlers (and parents, too!). September 23, 2007 Sticks and stones Most of us have heard the old saying... sticks and stones may break my bones but your words can never hurt me, yet we have all been hurt by the unkind words of others. I use this book as an elementary level teaching tool to help children understand that words can hurt feelings and so they must choose thier words carefully.
