love this book!
This is my current favorite (too bad my son prefers "things that go" but likes this one a lot too). It's a great read with lots of description words.

Love it
Our two-year old has fallen in love with this book. We checked out from the library and after renewing it three times bought our own copy. It teaches kids about opposites or things in relation to each other in a really cute way.

Great for Babies Too!
My 9 month old may not understand the story or appreciate the language but, boy, do the illustrations keep her glued to every page! Bold black outlines and lots of curly-cues for the sheep's wool. This book has been holding my squirmy one's attention for going on 3 months now. She loves the Near Sheep the best. But that's because she's a baby and likes things near! Thanks to this book, "sheep" may be the first word she'll learn how to read.
My only criticism, alas, would be the language. The rhymes are lovely and adults won't get tired of reading them. The thing that worries me (only a little bit) is the way adjectives are made out of words that aren't really adjectives: bath sheep, bed sheep, up sheep, down sheep, far sheep, near sheep, car sheep, train sheep, etc. Okay, these may be neologisms and I'm being too much of a strict grammarian or maybe I'm just reading it incorrectly.
Whatever the case, I'm still giving it five stars because it is definitely a hit with this mom and her baby.

It's a day care favorite
I operate a home daycare with children in the age range of 1-8 and the younger group 1-4 LOVE this book. The children seem to stay engaged and focus on finding the green sheep. It's great for color recognition.

Easy Read, Possible Boredom
This book is certainly an easy enough read for an advanced 3 yr old, but could also be easily boring. Not much excitement or surprise from page to page to keep an active child with a creative imagination occupied for very long.

A bedtime tradition
This has become a bedtime tradition for my two-year old and me. The simple words, rhyme and rhythm make it easy for her to finish the sentences with me as we read together. The illustrations are engaging and give us plenty to talk about. Its soothing rhythm helps us wind down at the end of busy days. The book introduces useful adjectives and opposites. It would be a good resource for English Language Learners.

a memorable book for toddlers
I highly recommend this for your bookshelf. Our 2 year old son can supply most of the words to the book. We just have to start him out with "here's the ... and here's the ..." and he'll fill in the rest. When we get to the last few pages and he knows he's about to find the green sheep -- he squeals with delight.

great for pre readers
My sons (ages 3 and 5) love this book. They can read along and love when we get to "but where is the green sheep?".

I highly recommend it!

My daughter absolutely LOVES this book. She has memorized the words and now reads this book to us! We love it!

Fabulous book for my 3 year old
I was originally turned on to this book because The Children's Theatre in Minneapolis had a short play based on "Where is the Green Sheep?" It is a fabulous book -- very catchy phrasing and cute pictures. My daughter loves to "read" it now that she has it memorized.
