I don't like reading books with a lot of cursing and sex in them so I have been sticking to the young adult section thinking it would be safer. So I was pretty shocked when I had only been listening to the book for about 10 minutes before the fist f-word was used. Maybe I'm a prude but I really hate that word and it and other words were used far to often in this book. The story was pretty good, it took me a while but I did get interested in it. But if I had teenage kids there is no way I would let them read this. The language is terrible and there is far to much sex talk. Most of the guys in the book are very inappropriate with the exception of Dmitry, he's pretty cool. November 28, 2008 Great read! I bought this first book in the Vampire Academy series after seeing someone recommend it on a list of books for people who liked the Twilight series. When I started reading it, I immediately got sucked in and couldn't put it down! I stayed up late last night to finish it, and just ordered the next two in the series. The world and characters that Mead has created are interesting and fun, and the novel pulls you along in a suspenseful way. Although it is written for young adults, be forewarned that it does contain more "adult" references to alcohol/drug use and sex. A great read! November 26, 2008 .... Looking for the second in the series! Not absolutely amazing...but I did read it in two nights. Hard to put down. November 19, 2008 Vampire Academy is awesome...... I read this book when it first came out but i hadn't written a review until i saw it here. Rose has a strong and very unique personality and she thinks like we all do (or should). i don't know what else to say about that book i ma sure you dont need a review but an opinion, i loved it Dimitri is gorgeous and so is Christian and Mason. VA has fantastic characters and a very interesting plot. i wish we had our very own VAmppire Academy here. but o'well. I am going to start reading the 3rd one now hopefully it just gets better and better. Will Dimitri and Rose get together??? i guess we will see.. November 16, 2008 ~*Vampire Academy Review*~ I'm not going to go over the story, there are enough of reviews with that. What I will say is it took me a couple of chapters to get into. But once I got into it I couldn't put it down! If you liked House of Night or any type of young adult vampire books you will like this book. I really enjoyed that it didn't have the typical girl meets boy, they fall in love yada, yada, yada! To me this book was anything but the typical storyline thats why there is 5 stars instead of 4. So if you are like me and enjoy a good YA Fantasy story, you need to read this book!! November 14, 2008 This is my new favorite series I loved this book and rushed to get the next one. I love Rose and Lissa and all the characters. I've fallen in love with Dimitri myself!! He sounds so hot... *Drool* This series is def, in my fav. top 5! In fact, when I finished it, I overnighted the next book in the series - overcoming my native cheapness - because I just had to know what happened next and to have more of the characters. Kind of different twist on the Vampires. These Vampires are born they are called Moroi. But you can be a vampire who is created called Strigoi but they are very bad vampires. Then there are ppl who are half vampire half human Moroi,and they are called Dhampir they are the protectors of the Moroi. The Moroi can use Magic and the Dhampir's can't but they are very strong.
