User Submitted The Original Summer Bridge Activities: 2nd to 3rd Grade ReviewsJuly 18, 2008 Not as Thorough As It Could Be The bridge workbook is good, but there is only one page per day - it's not extemely thorough. It takes my step-daughter less than 10 minutes to complete the page every day - I had hoped the book would provide her with 20 - 30 minutes of review. The content is there, but I would like to see it expanded to a page of math and a page of language arts and handwriting activities each day. July 10, 2008 Very nice product! Our daughter is very motivated by the book and the daily activities take just the right amount of time. June 23, 2008 Bridging the grade gap in the summer Summer Bridge Activities-we have used these for 4 years for all 3 of our children. We use them to help the children keep up their school/academic skills over the summer break. They are a GREAT adjunct to summer reading. The books have various "exercises" covering all subjects in a day by day format and have "grading" pages with stickers and stars for completion. The children initially balk at doing them but soon enjoy "remembering" what they did in school!!! June 18, 2008 Great Summer Learning Books My husband and I get workbooks for our kids every summer and these are by far the best ones we have gotten. There is a page (front and back) for each day and every day includes some type of math skill, and reading or english skills. There is enough work to help keep the kids in practice but not so much that they feel overwhelmed. The book reviews what they learned in the grade they just completed and gradually starts introducing them to the skills they will be learning in the next grade. I think getting a taste of what is coming up makes it all just a little less intimidating and helps them get a little head start. We liked these books so much we have already purchased the workbooks for next summer! June 8, 2008 Great workbook for summer! We have used summer bridge now for the last 6 years every summer. My kids love the books and it is great motivation to keep learning over the summer. They really enjoy the goal setting that the books have and they like that they can choose their reward when they reach their goal. I have them do a page a day, but sometimes they want to 3 or 4 pages so they can reach their goal sooner and recieve their reward. The rewards aren't always tangible things either, sometimes it is going on a bike ride as a family, or going down to the river to swing on the rope, etc. They have learned that you don't always have to spend money to have a fun reward for work done well!! We love summer bridge! May 15, 2008 It helps This book has helped our little one last and we will use it again this summer. May 7, 2007 Summer Studies = Summer Fun My daughter and I have used this series for five years now. The older she gets the more she enjoys her summer studies. This book is great! It is always broken down into three sections and has reward charts to track progress. We also love the Summer Reading List in the book, and look the books up at our local library. I really enjoy the Better Bodies Better Behavior section and the flash cards as well. Each day's work and reading takes less than an hour. Definately worth the money, get it every year! July 3, 2006 Good activity book.......but math is a little too easy I have been using the summer bridge activity books for both of my children for the last couple of years. I think the books for primary grade children could be a little more challenging in the math area. Once you get to the 3rd-4th grade level they seem to be pretty close to school curriculum. If you are thinking of buying this for your k-3rd grade student you may find the need to supplement the math activities. June 30, 2006 Continue the skills - Summer Bridge I use summer bridge every year. It is the most comprehensive book I have bought. I like that each page has a variety of subject matter and that it starts simple and gets more complex. For more The Original Summer Bridge Activities: 2nd to 3rd Grade reviews click here.
