Grammar book review
It is a good resource. I lead a GED class and I wanted it for assistance with lesson plans, worksheets, etc. I would have preferred more worksheets - and a more user friendly approach to help people learn grammar. But it is a good tool and I will probably use it often over the years. Would have been better if the pages could be easily removed for copying. The review said it copied easily but it does not - I will probably just tear the book apart and put it in a folder.

Makes grammar easy to learn - clear & simple for anyone
This book is ideal for anyone wanting to sharpen his/her English grammar skills. As a virtual assistant who does quite a bit of editing for my clients, I have used the contents of this book as a quick reference when something stumps me. Whether you are learning English as a second language or you are a writer or editor wanting to look up a little-known grammar rule, you will find that this comprehensive reference book is perfect for your needs. If you aren't sure if it will cover the topic(s) you're looking for, the author has the entire contents of the book online at grammarbook.com so you can take a look before you buy. This book has been a great help to me and several of my colleagues, and I would highly recommend it to others!

Valuable Resource
The workbook's ease of use is what stood out the most for me. I enjoy a hands on approach and being able to test my newly acquired knowledge with the quizzes truly helps. She also presents a lot of extra information on her website for free [...] which is great for those who may not have the financial means to supply a classroom with books.

Best English Book I've Used
The rules and examples in this book are so clear and concise that I actually enjoy learning and reviewing English. Whenever my kids come home with a grammar, punctuation, capitalization, or homonym question, we grab The Blue Book, knowing we'll find a rule that will get us out of confusion. We love to challenge ourselves with all of the great quizzes provided also. I showed my children's teachers the book and now they are ordering it as a textbook for their classes. It takes hard work to make a subject seem easy. Jane Straus deserves high praise for achieving this.

My go-to reference day in day out.
As an editor and lover of punctuation (yes I admit it), it is wonderful to know that there are books such as The Blue Book of Grammar and Punctuation out there. I find myself referring to it most days of the week. It is an indispensable tool, and I wouldn't be able to do my job well without it. It is easy to read, easy to search for topics, and contains the answers to the most common issues that arise during the process of writing and editing. Simply put, it is invaluable.

Wow, not what I expected
I'm not going to add any examples, because I have never even read this book, but just looking at the other reviews, I cannot let people buy this thing. Thus I had to make a new bad review to bring down the book's rating. I can't believe all the errors! I will give the book two stars instead of one, however, because it does seem to have SOME usable/correct information in it.

Simply the BEST
The company owner walks into my office, plucks the Blue Book off my shelf and murmurs a rather sheepish "I'm hooked." If you are passionate about getting things right, you will be too. I have turned to this resource more than any on my shelf since purchasing it. It is also valuable for winning office bets on things such as the word "irregardless" - one of my pet peeves - shot down in the tremendously useful "Confusing Words and Homonyms" section with a succinct "no such word exists." Thank you, thank you, Jane Straus!
The book includes examples to illustrate every rule, along with handy rule-of-thumb type tips (for example, "To test whether an 'ly word is an adjective, see if it can be used alone with the noun. If it can, use a comma when the -ly adjective is used with other adjectives.") Brilliant! Buy the book and you can also learn the invaluable "he/him method" to determine the correct answer to the age-old question of who vs. whom, or whoever vs. whomever. Although the quizzes are obviously aimed toward teachers and students, you will find that technical writers, marketing writers, QA analysts, or anyone who just believes in proper English will adore this book, along with its companion newsletter and web site.
