The BFG Review
User Submitted The BFG ReviewsNovember 11, 2008 complete classical nonsense This has Dahl written all over, it is makes you want to laugh at the sheer nonsense of it gasp at the huge outrageousness of and cry at how Sophie finds a home at last with her friend the BFG one of Dahl's best November 4, 2008 The Giant The BFG is a about a girl that gets taken away by a big friendly giant from the orphanage. She gets taken to a dried up magical land and has to hide or another giant will eat her flesh! I like this book because it is adventurous. You never know if a giant is standing behind you about an inch away from eating your flesh! SCARY! This book is so great, that I will never stop reading it until I am eighty! (Just so you know I am only eight and a half). November 2, 2008 Favourite quick read. Well, this book was first read to me when I was 5, I am now 20 and it has never been surpassed as my No. 1 favourite book, especially if I want a quick read and a good laugh. I would recomend this book to all ages, even those who are young, as the eating of Human Beans is for a weird reason, not very prominent in the forefront of your mind. One might suppose this would be because none of the eaten childers are named or introduced in the book. It all happens elsewhere, and does not happen anywhere that the story is actually happening, (childers do get eaten in England, which is where the story is set, but none that Sophie has ever meet). All in all, a very good read and worth the money, however much you spend. October 28, 2008 The BFG Roald Dahl is the author of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," "Matilda," and "The Witches" and other children's classics. The BFG is about a girl who lives at an orphanage named Sophie. When Sophie sees a giant, when she shouldn't have, the giant has no other choice but to snatch her. But the giant isn't like the other giants. Good thing or otherwise he might have eaten Sophie after taking her from the orphanage. In the giant's world, things are very different for Sophie. After she learns about the other giants who do eat people, she creates a plan to save the world from them with the BFG's help of course. September 16, 2008 BFG Great story for a read aloud. Kids love listening to and reading along with the descriptive language. September 10, 2008 Love it! I was introduced to Roald Dahl when I was very young but I still love the story now that I'm older September 7, 2008 Arrived weeks late. This was scheduled to arrive no later than August 16th. Despite repeated attempts to contact Amazon, it arrived September 2nd, and I had to go to the post office to get it. It was for my daughter's birthday, and arrived weeks after her birthday. It is a great book, but Amazon's service was dreadful. March 10, 2008 Big Friendly Giant Went over Big I bought this for my son, and he greatly enjoyed it. His teacher had read it aloud at school, and he wanted his own book. I'm glad it was shipped right away, since my son had kept asking me when he'd get it. The seller shipped promptly, and the book was in excellent condition. December 25, 2007 Another great read from Roald Dahl I have been a great fan of Roald Dahl's books since I was a young child. I would go into the library quite often and read any of his books that I could get my hands on. His books are enjoyable for all age levels. I am a college student, and I still enjoy sitting down and reading them. The BFG was always one of my favorites. It has great humor, and endearing characters. I highly recommend it. December 13, 2007 The BFG The BFG by Roald Dahl Reviewed by (age 9) Stockbridge central School 4th Grade (5 stars. ) Imagine that you were snatched out of your bed by a giant! Well that happened to Sophie. She was trying to sleep but she couldn't. She went out of her room and was looking out of the window because there was a very bright light on her pillow. She saw the scariest thing: it was a skinny man with a black cape. Sophie tried to scream but it didn't come out. Then she was in the giants hands being carried away! I love this book because the BFG The Big Friendly Giant) talks really funny. He said words like "snozzcumbers" and "whizzpoppers". (I won't tell you what they are.) The book was really exciting. There are 9 other man eating giants and Sophie and the BFG have to stop them before they strike again! If you want to know if they succeed read the book! For more The BFG reviews click here.
