Sylvia Long's Mother Goose Review
User Submitted Sylvia Long's Mother Goose ReviewsDecember 14, 2007 Sylvia Long's Mother Goose I have lost count of the number that I have bought of this book. Certainly the first gift I would give a new baby. I am fortunate that I know Sylvia personally and her delightful personality shows forth in all her books. February 18, 2007 A gift to my son, his favorite book This is my 4 year old's favorite book. He recieved it for his 1st birthday and we have been reading it ever since. It grows with him from looking at the illustrations at age one, to using the bookmark, reading on his own and looking up his favorites in the rear index. Better yet, I never tire of the clever adaptions. I give it to every new mom I know. Amazon has a great price, when I'm slow and have to buy it at the store I pay $[...] November 5, 2006 Great Mother Goose A great Mother Goose experience for child and reader alike -- sturdy colorful pages. Only one poem per page. February 23, 2006 Mother Goose This is my favorite Mother Goose collection. Wonderfully illustrated. Sylvia is a talented artist. A good choice for a first born. May 5, 2005 Most beautiful edition This is the most beautiful Mother Goose ever written. Children are mesmerized by the artistry, and even adults feel cozy and warm reading the familiar rhymes, and searching for the hidden treasures in Long's depictions. A perfect baby gift, or children's birthday present! November 15, 2004 A Classic to Keep For Years This is one of the most beautiful collections of Mother Goose. The selection is well thought out, as is the page layout. The illustrations are just gorgeous. The quality of the materials is tops -- the paper is thick stick, coated. The jacket cover is also beautiful, and the book has a sewn in satin ribbon pagefinder. This is a perfect gift for a new baby. March 17, 2002 Heirloom-Quality...Enchanting!!! This is the most beautifully illustrated Mother Goose book I have seen. Sylvia Long has taken her own interpretations of these classic rhymes and turned them into a wonderful imaginative feast for the eyes. The animal characters behave so life-like as they take the place of their human counterparts! I also like the way the author groups the rhymes according to themes. For example, all the rhymes containing words about specific animals, physical traits or characteristics tend to be grouped together. There is also an index of first lines in the back of the book. My daughters continually pour over the images every day, and were even inspired to write and illustrate their own interpretations in their personal copybooks. The rhymes are classic, but in this book, the images tell their own stories as well! 5 Stars. Each rhyme is superbly illustrated allowing your youngster to understand the meaning of the rhyme through pictures. This is a keepsake book that will surely be passed down from one generation to the next.
