My son LOVES this set!!!
My son received this as a gift when he was born. As soon as he was old enough to hold them in his hands he loved them! He loved hearing me read the rhymes and then would sleep with them. Now he is almost 2 and still loves these books, he will sit and pretend to read the books, turning the page and saying "piggy, wee-wee-wee, home" and phrases like that. They are the perfect size for little ones and they love the rhymes! I just purchased two sets to give as baby shower gifts. The only downside to the books is my son was able to tear/break apart some of the books when playing with them, so they aren't as sturdy as other board books.

The arrival of Mother Goose
Mother Goose' first arrival was a distinct disappointment as the package was badly damaged in transit. However a replacement was winged to us immediatley so no more tears were shed.
The books are delightful and well worth buying. My only complaint is that the books are difficult to extract from the box due to the shortness of the rope ties.
The entertainment value however is immense and we shall be looking at this author in more detail to decide what next to buy.

Here are the rhymes in the set:
I just bought these for my 6-month-old son, but was frustrated that the packaging didn't list which nursery rhymes were included in this set. I thought I'd share in case others were wondering the same thing.

We *love* this Mother Goose board book set!
My 15 month old *loves* these books! She likes to read them, play with them, and hand them to me to read them to her. She also loves to take them out of the box and then put them back in. I'm going buy this set for my sister for her baby shower!

Package is deceiving
The board books themselves are great - nice and chubby, cute illustrations and just a few words on each "page" so as to keep up with rapid turning from the baby. But the box it came in is so flimsy it will not hold up for very long. I would consider the box as gift wrapping not a permanent storage place for the books.

Nice Block Books
Just got these block books for my 8 & 1/2 months old. The books are more sturdy than I expected (comparing with other board books that we have.)

My son put the books in his mouth immediately when he saw them. However, the books didn't get destroyed (at least not yet.) In addition, unlike other board books, the pages won't stick together after mouthing.

Although you can pile them up pretty well, don't expect them to be the same as regular blocks. Needless to say, they are still books.

Overall, they are nice and sturdy and my son enjoys playing with them.

For a baby
I was so excited to order the Sylvia Long Molther Goose Board Books because my 7 month old daughter loves books, but I was disappointed. While the books are beautiful and she likes them, they really cannot double as building blocks as they are marketed. All babies put everything in their mouths, which is something the manufacturer overlooked. When I gave her one of the books Christmas morning of course it went directly in her mouth and in less than a minute the front cover basically melted in her mouth and some of the paper came off. I definitely cannot leave the blocks for her to play with because they will be ruined in no time. Unlike other board books that have withstood hours of mouthing, I have to make sure I'm with her at all times when she plays with these in case some of the paper comes off which is a choking hazard. Bummer.

Wonderful books and blocks
This is a perfect gift for any baby's first birthday. The nursery rhymes and illustrations are darling and just perfect for little hands. You can read or build with these block books!
