Snow White Review
User Submitted Snow White ReviewsMay 8, 2008 Absolutely beautiful illustrations! Absolutely beautiful illustrations. Incorporation of artwork and text is especially appealing. The size of the book is a great plus for sofa reading time with young chilren. This book is a timeless edition and definitely one to add to your reading library. The little cherubs at my house love it! February 19, 2008 Gorgeously illustrated This book has marvelous illustrations of the fairy tale story as originally told by the Grimm brothers. This book can be great for young children as the pictures are so vivid and life-like, especially of Snow White who is portrayed as a child rather than a teenager. Each picture is a springboard for conversation with little ones. I will be looking for all of Charles Santore's books after seeing this one. January 27, 2008 Beautiful Interpretation of a Classic Beautifully rendered drawings adorn the pages of this favorite classic. Santore's paintings always delight. If you love your children's books to include gorgeous illustrations, then look no further: this is a winner in that department. August 31, 2007 Snow White A marvelous telling, with beautiful illustrations, of the classic Grimm fairy tale. Highly recommended for anyone interested in sharing the tradition of fairy tales with children, or re-reading the stories to themselves to rekindle the fires of imagination, fantasy, and good and evil. Bess Kuzma March 24, 2007 Gorgeous Illustrations! A great picture book and wonderful addition to my collection of beautifully illustrated fairy tales to share with my children.... December 27, 2005 The original is so much better than Disney I bought this book specifically to show my daughter that there is a world beyond the Wonderful World of Disney. While Walt used the story of Snow White to make an interesting and entertaining movie, the original story is so much better. We already own Charles Santore's version of The Wizard of Oz, so I was excited to find his (absolutely) beautiful illustrations incorporated into this original telling of Snow White. While the story could be scary to young children - Snow White is a child after all - the wording has been neutered enough to downplay the fact that a deranged woman is trying to kill a 7 year old child. My daughter, who is old enough to understand that a story is just a story, was absolutely fascinated with all the ways that the Disney version deviated from the original Brothers Grimm version. Santore's illustrations drove the point home for her. She just looks at them - mesmerized. Snow White and the Wizard of Oz (also illustrated by Charles Santore) are "must haves" for any library collection. For more Snow White reviews click here.
