Sesame Beginnings: Potty Time! (Sesame Beginnings) Review
User Submitted Sesame Beginnings: Potty Time! (Sesame Beginnings) ReviewsMay 5, 2008 really cute, simple Sure its not very long, but does it really need to be? Its simple and to the point, very cute and has all the characters that my toddler loves! March 5, 2008 Our son loved it! This is a very simple book and I think that is part of its appeal. We started reading it to our son just after he turned one, and it was just a book. It wasn't only for the bathroom, or intended to help train him, but we treated it like any other book. I don't know how people can expect a book to potty train their children. Books like this shouldn't need to be instructional- the parents need to show them what to do. We had this and a few other potty books on the bookshelf (he also loved- and still loves- Too Big for Diapers) and we just read them when he chose them. We figured it would just gradually get him used to the idea, and when he was ready he'd do it. Well, at about 28 months, with very little prodding from us, he decided to wear big boy underwear and he kept them dry! He had his share of accidents, and it was a few more months before he'd poop in the potty, but overall he's done really well (he's almost 3 now). He still sometimes says "bye-bye pee-pee or poo-poo" like Grover does on the last page, and he still likes to read it occasionally. I highly recommend this and Too Big for Diapers for younger children to just get them used to the idea of using a potty. February 1, 2008 My Grandson Loved It Very cute straightforward little book introducing potty training at the very beginning level. It uses baby sesame street characters and has a "flushable" toilet with a moveable handle near the end. My two year old grandson loves it. January 29, 2008 Ripped the last page immediately I got this to help with my daughter's potty training. The book is cute. The last page has a cardboard lever that you use to "flush" the toilet. My daughter ripped the lever off the first time she had this book. It wasn't easy to "press" the lever to flush the toilet either. Other than that, the book is cute and doesn't have much pages to it. There isn't any actual usefulness of showing the characters using the potty. It seems more like an introduction to the potty. It shows Bert washing hands, which is good, but if you are looking for a book to teach about using the potty, don't get this book. My daughter liked to look at the book, and was already familiar with the Sesame Street characters. It didn't help or keep her interest while sitting on the potty. January 20, 2008 just ok not the greatest book for potty training. its cute and my 1 1/2 yr.old twins like the pictures. but it does not really do any show how for the kids. It more or less says lots about thinking to use the potty, having accidents and not wanting to use the potty yet. It has a little toilet on the last page the kids can move the handle down and kinda flush the yellow part of the page moves to white to suggest flushing the pee. no sounds though. I had a flushing sound pee book for my eldest and I think it was more helpful than this one has been so far. November 8, 2007 Skimpy Book I was disappointed with this book. I think there are better potty training books out there. This is extremely basic. September 11, 2007 Cute Potty Book for Younger Kids My boys love this book, especially the end where they get to "flush" the potty down and tell it bye-bye. For little Sesame Street fans, this is a good potty training book. The only thing I don't like is that it switches from toilets to potty seats (Zoey uses the toilet, Big Bird has a potty seat), which I think could be confusing since most kids progress from a potty seat to a toilet. I would still recommend it, though. September 6, 2007 I was disappointed I guess based on the other reviews and the price, I expected more. This book seems really short to me. It covers the potty habits of 4 of Grover's Sesame Street friends (some of them like to potty - some aren't ready to potty and that's ok - etc.). It just seemed a little brief to me and didn't have much meat to it. My 2 year old son thought it was ok - but he isn't excited about it the way some of the other reviewers' children seemed to be. And I expected more from the flush the potty feature on the last page. It is a paper lever that is really easy to pull off if you have a child who is less than delicate with books (a board book with a flimsy paper pull tab seems contradictory to me...give me something a little sturdier...). I think the book is over priced for what you get (and if you buy it used, make sure the paper flush handle is intact before you buy - because that's really the only feature that makes this book stand out and it probably won't last multiple children). June 10, 2007 Cute book My son loves this book. There is a little flushing potty at the end and he just sits there flushing it over and over. It's not an electric flush it is a little tab that you slide up and down to make the "pee pee go bye bye". I recommend this book. May 6, 2007 Potty Sucess Love this book, especially the last page where the child can actually move a lever to "flush the pee in the toilet." My son loves it! For more Sesame Beginnings: Potty Time!
