Scratch and Sniff: Garden Review
User Submitted Scratch and Sniff: Garden ReviewsOctober 3, 2007 Great Book My two-year-old and I really love this book. After I initially took off the shrink wrap, I thought the smells were a little hard to take; however, after the book "aired out" for a couple of days, the smells were not so strong and were very pleasant. The pictures are fun with the ladybugs, butterflies, beetles, etc. A great little book! August 1, 2007 Like Real Life I got this for my 2 toddlers and they love this book. The smells are very strong and they have nice big pictures. The smells really do smell like the real thing. It is a short story so a busy toddler's mind can consontrate long enough. I enjoyed this book. February 23, 2006 Very Smelly This is a very nice book. Good pictures and very potent smells. I would have given it 5 stars if 2 of the smells didn't smell VERY much the same. The smell is put on the page not with stickers (like I am used to when I was little some 30 years ago) but with a texured surface that is only visable when you look at it from an angle. Very large areas of smell make it easy to get a good whiff. I am hoping this new way of smell application also lasts much longer than the old way!!? Happy sniffing! May 9, 2005 Scents of Summer! Santa brought my little 2 yr old daughter this book for X-mas! She loves this book and so do I as it is a delight to smell fresh cut grass and fresh cedar wood in the dead of winter here! Am even getting a copy of this book for my 90 yr old grandmother who lives in a nursing home. How she would love to revisit these "warm weather day" smells! August 7, 2004 Great to teach little ones to smell! My son who is 11 months loves this book and he loves to smell (and lick!) the different items. It has simple text in the form of questions ("Does the rose smell sweet?") alongside with real-life photos. The smells are: Rose, Lavendar, Pine, Grass, Mint. It has lasted for a few months of abuse so far except for the last page (Mint) which the scent has faded. I would definitly recommend this book and I look forward to owning the others in the scratch and sniff series. July 2, 2003 My son likes it (still) I bought this book out of curiosity, and I am glad that I did, because my son liked it at first sight, and he still likes it even after a year. The book is really well made - sturdy, not heavy, safe, and of course smells nice. I was worried about the smell being a little bit toxic for a small child, but it did not bother my little one (he was 9 months old). He doesn;t particularly use the book for its smell, but he loves opening each page (I don't know why). The book is so well made that it must be fun for him to try to open and flip the pages. But I only bought this particular one, and I don't plan to buy any other ones... since my son doesn't seem interested in smelling the book. August 21, 2002 Full of garden scents DK scratch and sniff books won't disappoint you. They are by far the best scratch and sniff books around (not that there is a huge market of them). The scents last a long long time and the photos and text are very clear. My 3 year old follows along with the words and then tries to read the story himself after we are done. June 18, 2002 smells as good as rose My 17-month-old found much to like immediately--each page was enthusiastically checked out. The scents are realistic and long-lasting, and the photos help tie everything together. A rose, mint, lavendar, cedar log, and freshly mown lawn put you out-of-doors no matter what time of year. Very stimulating. February 6, 2002 A lovely book to share with your young garden lover Another quality series of books from DK. Good sturdy pages for little hands, wonderful clear and bright photography (no illustrations) and easy to read vocabularly. A wonderful learning tool for your baby and toddler. YOu can read to them, point things out and get to smell something as well. We've been enjoying this series of books for over two years and after lots of "scratching" we are still enjoying lots of "sniffing". January 28, 2002 Very nice This is a great idea. The only disapointment is that it is too short (in content). The photos and scents are lovely and my daughter loves it. They could easily add more content that would allow for disscussion with one's child and more pictures. For more Scratch and Sniff: Garden reviews click here.
