Russell the Sheep Review
This is Russell. Sometimes Russell is just a little bit out of step with the rest of the flock. All the sheep are falling asleep -- except Russell. What's a sheep to do? Russell tries everything ... until, at last, he falls asleep. User Submitted Russell the Sheep ReviewsJuly 20, 2008 Love Russell & the whole series... The books in this series are among our favorite. My daughter is 2 1/2 and request that we read "Russell" almost every night. Adorable stories, AMAZING illustrations. I recommend all of the books - check out Russell and the Lost Treasure and the Christmas edition, too. Very cute, very loved at our home. April 23, 2008 TOO CUTE My 3 year old twins love this book. Russell is adorable-the illustrations are captivating. This is one of our nightime favorites. We had checked it out of the library initially but found we had to purchase it for our collection. April 13, 2008 WHAT DO SHEEP DO WHEN THEY CAN'T SLEEP? RUSSELL THE SHEEP Russell is the cutest little sheep I have ever met! What a cutie! What a keeper! His big ole bug-eyes just pull you in and you will fall hopelessly in love with Russell! To me, he looks like our Greyhound, Logan -- oh, those eyes! {Just his eyes remind me of Logan!!} Russell is a little sheep who cannot fall asleep! He tries everything he can think of -- from taking a walk, to counting stars, and various other methods! How many times have YOU tried falling asleep to no avail and counting -- counting -- SHEEP!!!!! The illustrations in this book are PRICELESS! The story line is funny and will keep your kids interested. Everyone, regardless of age, can relate to Russell the Sheep who cannot fall asleep. I purchased two of these books for my grandkids, one for each family. What a delightful time Grandma will have reading this one to them! The kids will love the story line and the pictures! The drawings are out of this world and sweet and just toooooooooooooo cute. Get this book, have fun reading it to your babies, and ENJOY! THANK YOU! Pam January 19, 2008 A fun, beautifully illustrated book My two year old daughter adores this book. It was the first real story book she warmed up to and we've read it hundreds of times. The story is funny and sweet. The illustrations are absolutely beautiful while being whimsical and amusing in their own right. A great read that I would recommend to anyone. December 24, 2007 Board book snoring sounds wouldn't work outside the store My daughter saw this book in the store and was infatuated with it. She like the illustrations and giggled at the snoring sounds every time she opened the book. I returned to the mall a few days later to do some Christmas shopping and included this book in my purchases. I checked to make sure it worked before I left the store -- no problems. Later that evening, I showed the book to my husband. It wouldn't snore! I opened it a dozen or so times, but nothing happened. A few days later, I returned to the bookstore and explained the situation, asking to exchange it for another copy. When I opened the book - voila! There was the noise! The clerk let me exchange it anyways, and we checked to make sure the new copy worked. When I got outside, I ran into some friends from church. During the course of the conversation, I showed them the book. I opened it, and it didn't make the noise. After repeated attempts, I went back into the mall, and back into the bookstore. It worked fine. At that point, highly frustrated, I asked if I could just exchange the board book for the original book, "Russell the Sheep", and pay the difference. It turns out that we like the unabridged version of the story better anyways. The original book, "Russell the Sheep" has beautiful illustrations, a bit sillier story, and is an overall better purchase. We will have to keep it put up when we're not using it, so that our 1 1/2 year old daughter doesn't tear the pages, but we are excited to read it to her every night! It is a book that parents and children alike will enjoy reading over and over again. May 18, 2007 Fun, but ... This IS a fun, cute book, but it really bothers me that Russell tries to sleep in the trunk of an old car. This is not a good example to be setting for kids - every once in a while a child tries this and gets stuck, sometimes dying before being found. May 15, 2007 Russell the Sheep I completely relate to Russell. He's a sheep with a simple goal: to get a good night's sleep. He does everything he can to fall asleep: he wears a hat to keep his head warm, he puts the hat over his eyes to make it darker, he tries ear plugs, he moves to a different spot, and so on. Then in the morning none of the other sheep understand why he's still in bed or why he's so groggy later. If I were a sheep, I'd be Russell. So many nights I end up pacing the halls, trying to sleep on the couch upstairs, meditation and even, counting sheep. I even wear a night cap to bed, though not as fanciful a one as Russell's: mine is black. April 6, 2007 Beautifully illustrated with equally wonderful storyline! My son LOVES this book! It epitomizes life for him right now....always resisting naps and bedtime. Reading about Russell's inability to fall asleep is mutually hilarious for the two of us! The pictures are SO vivid, soft, and perfectly done; the moment I picked this book up at the bookstore I knew I had to go online to Amazon and order a copy for our collection (much less expensive)! Every kiddo deserves this one....and it's a fun read for parents, too. November 10, 2006 Creative and Fun: I bought this book for my three year old daughter due to the large scale, full color, creative illustrations found within. I was satisfied at the safe content of the story as well as the over all visuals. November 5, 2006 cute book I read about this book in a parenting magazine. My kids (3 and 5) love this book. It is really cute. For more Russell the Sheep reviews click here.
