The PERFECT Instructional Book for Toddlers
I recently ordered about 10 potty training books and have been reading reviews for videos, books, and other aides for quite some time. This book, at first glance, appears to be nothing fancy or special, is a nice-size and composed of the washable, waterproof material (which turns out to be very practical for the bathroom) common for a baby's 1st book. In fact, of all the books that arrived, this was the last one we read. And-Oh, I am SOOOO IMPRESSED. I have noticed that most training books do not provide a simple step-by-step guide for toddlers like this one does...Instead these books tell stories that are designed to help kids overcome a fear of using the potty chair/toilet. They shows kids playing with the potty chair (like dumping it over their heads or stuffing toys in it) or are more fairy-tale oriented featuring animal stories. One video I bought even showed a kid flying through some kind of make-believe land for 10 minutes and demonstrated how he could carry the chair around the house and turn it upside down. I don't need any videos giving my son any 'bright ideas' like this and he does not have the attention span to watch potty training adventures in space or in some fairytale land. My point is: If you are looking for a gentle 1st guide to the process, this is the best one I've seen anywhere! It stars a little boy and his bear. It begins, "I can drink from a cup. I can take off my socks. I can brush my own teeth. And now I'm ready for POTTY TIME!" The potty chair is a simple white modern-looking one. I noticed that the recommended age range for this book states 4-8 yrs. according to Amazon's description. This is TOTALLY OFF and almost convinced me not to buy the book...Why would any author ever write a how-to-use the potty book for 4-5-6-7-8 yr. olds? Nevertheless, this book is suitable for 18 mos. and up.

If you're only going to purchase one potty-training instructional book, let this be the one.
