Little Red Riding Hood ReviewUser Submitted Little Red Riding Hood ReviewsMay 2, 2010 An Appropriate Version This book is a slight reimaging of an old classic fairy tale. The difference being that this book doesn't have the gruesome elements that the original tale was known for; such as the grandmother getting eaten, and then ultimately the same thing happening to Little Red Riding Hood. This story is definitely more appropriate for its intended age group. In this story the wolf stores the grandmother in the closet for later, and then in the end the grandmother is set free and the wolf goes away (nothing bad happens to Little Red Riding Hood either). There is also a little added scene in the beginning with the mother. If you don't know the basic story, it is about a little girl's selfless, happy quest to bring food to her grandmother. However, the girl is met with opposition when a wolf finds out of her errand and makes it his business to try and eat the girl and his grandmother. What's a good fairy tale without a good villain? Not the classic version, but definitely better suited for my young daughter who incidentally loved the book. I hope you parents give the book a try. The price and color illustrations are both outstanding! Darien Summers, author of The Mischievous Hare, a children's book. January 10, 2010 Read it over and over and over! My daughter has had this book for about 6 months now and still loves to read it. A good basic fairytale for a good price. December 12, 2009 Great story for your little ones I purchased this book for my 2 year old because I've always loved this story as well as the other Brothers Grimm stories. I don't like subjecting my daughter to negativity so the way this book was written was ideal. The only reason why I'm giving this book a 4 out of 5 star rating is because it wasn't written just like the Brothers Grimm version that I myself love. Another thing I love about this book is it's one out of a collection of books. You can get Rip Van Winkle, Three Little Pigs, Jack and the Beanstalk, Goldilocks, Big Red Hen, etc etc and all of the books match allowing you to have quite a large library of these books alone. Not only that, but they're all sold at such an affordable price. So far, this is the only book I've gotten out of this collection, but I am definitely going to be purchasing as many as I can find. The illustrations are great, the story is great and perfect for your little ones. It allows children to love these stories as such a tiny age so they can appreciate and enjoy the real versions once they're older. December 22, 2008 Good Book I brought this book for my 2 year old daughter and she enjoys it. It's a happy ending and not a violent book at all. January 9, 2007 Little Red Riding Hood This was a gift that I gave with a doll that had 3 faces (Little Red Riding Hood, Grandma, and the Wolf). The combination went over really well.
