I'm Going to be a Big Brother Review
User Submitted I'm Going to be a Big Brother ReviewsMay 13, 2008 Definitely for older kids I have a 2 1/2 year old and bought this book thinking it would be a great introduction for our little guy. I read two pages and realized this is not the book! This is a great book for older kids, but definitely not for preschool age. Too clinical and way to complicated for little ones.....again I would not recommend unless you have older children. April 3, 2008 not great The drawings are pretty ugly, and the text is really blah. It's written in a very dry, almost clinical way. It talks about baby safety, and how the baby comes out, grandma coming over to stay, but the baby never actually arrives in this book. This is not one I'll keep. March 29, 2008 Great preparation for big brothers! I bought this book for my 2 1/2 year old son. It is perhaps a little beyond his age but not much. This book written from the perspective of anticipating the baby's arrival and what it will be like when mommy goes to the hospital, and when the baby comes home. I appreciate how it can help children make sense of changes that are happening in the home in preparation for the baby, and help them anticipate what will happen when its time for the baby to be born and be brought home. Some books focus more on "now that baby is here" which is also great, I think some of both is helpful. March 7, 2008 Very pleased! We have read this to our son who will be 4 in May and our baby due in June. We replace his name for the character in the book and he has been extremely receptive to all of the scenario's described. February 24, 2008 great book for older siblings This is a great book that prepares a little boy named Sam for what to expect from his little brother. IT is a bit too long for my 2 yr. old son, so we only pick and choose some pages. I would recommend this for kids 4+. comes with a nice CD,though. m January 8, 2008 Good book for my 4 year old momma's boy This book is helpful in allowing my son to ask us questions regarding any insecurities or information he has about this uncoming event. He can relate to the character in the text. Wise move for our "only" child. January 5, 2008 Wonderful but for Older children My son is 27 months, we are expecting in May and I bought this book to help prepare him. It is a wonderfully written and illustrated book but too advanced for my little guy. I now just pick out the 'important' parts and do a cliff note version when reading to him. There is a lot of text and he lost interest. I would recommend it just realize that you will have to alter it a bit for the younger ones. December 14, 2007 Excelent book! I loved this book, it helped my son visualize some of the things that will happen when the new baby arrives. It also helped me see the things that he might be thinking and his worries. September 12, 2007 Great book for the big brother to be. We have a two year old son and a baby on the way, and this book has been perfect to prepare him. It puts everything into plain English and explains what will happen when the new baby comes. August 27, 2007 good book for children This book is good to read for a little boy who is going to have a new sibling. Teaches them, in a short format, that they will be able to do things with the new baby, gets them somewhat prepared for the baby coming. The cd was ok, didn't really catch my sons attention though. Good book to get your son understanding the role of being a big brother. For more I'm Going to be a Big Brother reviews click here.
