Flat Stanley Audio Collection Review
Available for the first time - Stanley Lambchop is just an ordinary boy until the day a bulletin board falls and flattens him. So begins the best-selling Flat Stanley, the first in a series of hilarious and unusual adventures starring Stanley Lambchop. In Invisible Stanley, a storm renders him invisible, allowing him to play matchmaker, go on television, and fight crime. Stanley in Space follows the Lambchop family as they travel to outer space to serve as ambassadors to an alien planet. In Stanley, Flat Again!, Stanley once again finds himself in a two-dimensional state and gets to enjoy a whole new set of escapades that only a flat boy can have. No matter what the adventure, Stanley will have listeners cheering for more. User Submitted Flat Stanley Audio Collection ReviewsOctober 3, 2008 Flat-Out Fun I was never aware of "Flat Stanley" while growing up. My wife recently purchased this book for our second grade daughter through her school book program. It has quickly become a favorite of my daughter. She reads it and both my wife and I have read it to her at night as a bedtime story. The tale is very engaging and Stanley Lambchop's adventures in flatness are funny, even for adults. Stanley tackles being flat with a positive outlook. He takes on criminals, saves a ring for his mother, helps his brother fly a kite and has a few more hilarious flat experiences. For anybody with a young child in grades K-3, this is an excellent storybook. The illustrations are excellent and funny and the story is simply wonderful. Highly recommended. August 25, 2007 Funny Funny Funny We are 6 years old and 4 years old. We think this book is funny because Stanley goes through the mail in an enevelope. We also think it is funny because Stanley is used as a surfboard. People should buy this book. March 13, 2007 Hooked my 6 year old on reading chapter books My son was reading well, but Junie B, Horrible Harry etc didn't capture his imagination and have him clamoring for more -- but this one, just totally captured his imagination and got to the top of his Christmas wishlist. In fact they got read before all of his toys got opened. I think, those series(at least the few we did read) have such mundane classroom settings, but flattening Stanley set him free on such fabulous adventures, and the framework of setting it in a normal family with a brother who fights with him and is jealous of him, just totally engaged him. All of the books in the series are really cute. The boxed set is a great value and includes this 40th anniversary edition which has a cute little flat stanley that you can cut out and mail away on his adventure January 21, 2007 Flat Stanley Absolutely adorable book. Ready to purchase the rest since none of our libraries seem to have them. Cute, cute, cute book!!! January 10, 2007 Flat Stanley I have taken pictures and bought souvenirs for three different grandchildren. Two of the Flat Stanleys went to China, and one visited Dawsonville, Georgia. Flat Stanley is more than a book, it's a lifestyle! One of my Chinese friends wanted to do a Flat Stanley unit for MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS! Every child should have a Flat Stanley experience. January 9, 2007 flat stanley as a teacher I have had a BALL and so have my students. It has opened up a whole new world for my first graders. c. crawford January 7, 2007 great story Flat Stanley is a time honored classic. The 40th edition by Jeff Brown is colorful and fun to read to my Kindergarten Students. We made our own Flat Stanleys mailed them to friends or family and tied it into our geography unit. September 3, 2006 A Well-Rounded Adventure Stanley has been squashed flat by his bulletin board! Now that's he's only a half-inch thick, he can slide under doors, get mailed in extra large envelopes, and be flown like a kite. When The Famous Museum of Art needs a special favor, Stanley is ready to help. This special picture-book edition brings Jeff Brown's classic story to a younger audience. Illustrator Scott Nash fills the pages with whimsical art that children will enjoy. Adapted from the chapter-book version, some of the verse is a bit long for small children with shorter attention spans. As with the best children's literature, there are lessons embedded within the story. With direction from parents/teachers, kids will learn that: every situation has the potential to create new opportunities; teasing hurts; it's good to be yourself. Overall, it is a fun story to share with the little ones and early elementary students. Pull up a lap and snuggle in for a well-rounded story. Reviewed by Christina Wantz Fixemer 8/7/2006 August 6, 2006 Great! I read this with my [...] sister and she loved it! It's a little too hard for her age because there are some vocabulary she didn't even understand but I helped her and she got along with the book very well. Very funny and humorous. July 13, 2006 Classic Fun A truly original premise requiring more than the usual suspension of disbelief, Flat Stanley delivers a light-hearted journey through the life of Stanley Lambchop. Stanley, a typical American boy, finds his life suddenly transformed when he is flattened by a bulletin board. His parents, in language and wit, sound like a television show family from the 50's, but with the off-beat humor and implausible story-line, it somehow all works wonderfully. Jeff Brown has created an interesting dynamic in describing the relationship between Stanley and his older brother, Arthur, who is intermittently inconsiderate and jealous of Stanley's new-found celebrity. Ultimately, however, it is Arthur who saves the day and returns Stanley to his proper size. It is a very engaging, upbeat story that is a fun read for the toddler set. I highly recommend it.
