She loves Dora so when I saw this book I bought it for her. The only time she can read it is if she is on the potty and she hasn't had an accident since. August 4, 2008 Potty training This book is cute - it's Dora so no literary genius but she has her hold on our daughter and we thought readinga bout Dora using the potty would be a good motivator. The only dissapointment is that when we rec'd our book,the potty noise button is broken. It just doesn't seem worth the time or $ to ship it back for a new book. Amazon: if you're reading, please send another :) May 28, 2008 Dora says: Big girl underwear rules! This is a nice book, no matter what stage of potty training your child is in. The illustrations of Dora when she is little are cute. Dora explains how when she was little, she wore diapers. Dora notices that big kids and grown-ups went into a room that made a flushing sound. Her mommy explains that bigger kids use the potty. Then her Mami and Papi gives her potty SEAT. (This is interesting because it's the kind that sits on top of the toilet. Most books introduce a potty chair. It may be important to parents who want their kids to learn on the toilet and not a potty chair.) Dora says, "First I had to learn when it was time to go. Sometimes that was hard to do, but other times I made it just in time!" and soon after says, "I practiced a lot, and soon I started using the potty all by myself. Then it was time for my first pair of big-girl underwear". "Now I'm a big girl who goes on big adventures! I wear big-girl underwear; and I use the bathroom just like all the big kids and grown-ups. Soon you'll use the potty like a big kid too. And then you'll be ready for any adventure." The book has a button to press to hear the flushing sound of a toilet. You and your child will enjoy this book! May 27, 2008 We love Dora! My daughter (22 months) loves this book and I'm sure it will be a big help when we actually start training. May 26, 2008 Yet another useless item to throw in the "Dora" pile... I, along with many other parents of Dora lovers feel almost obligated to buy anything and everything Dora. It's what drove me to buy this book, and since my daughter is semi-interested in the potty, I thought, "why not?". Yes, the book is cute, it makes sounds (oooh!) and of course my daughter loves it. Please note that there isn't actually a picture of Dora on the potty, just a "before" and "after", which is not very educational. Just don't be fooled into thinking that this book is actually going to aide you in the draining process of potty training. When your child is ready, they're ready, and when they're not, well... they're not, and no book is going to make them ready. Not worth it, in my opinion. May 24, 2008 Good for toilet training, not for potty I got this and realized it is for the potty seat for the big toilet, not for the potty itself which is frustrating since I think most people start with a potty as the big toilet is scary and too much for first time uses. I would be better to have Dora use a potty chair and then graduate to a potty seat for the toilet. My daughter does like the flushing sound button but it is too distracting and is all she wants to do rather than listen to the book. I hope they come up with more (and better) Dora potty training as it is her favorite and she is interested in anything Dora or Diego. A DVD would be nice too! March 31, 2008 Dora's educational book! My daughter loves Dora. This book helped her with the hole process of leaving the diapers. It is a very durable one because it has hard covers and pages. March 25, 2008 Cute book! If you are trying to prep your toddler for potty learning, and she loves Dora, this book is a great start! March 20, 2008 Fun, but not very educational This book is fun and colorful, and my 2.5 year old likes pushing the button, which makes a very faint noise a little like a toilet flushing. One reviewer said the button is hard to push, but ours is not. This book doesn't really teach a lot about the potty training process, and it doesn't show Dora using the potty, so I would suggest also getting more instructive books for actual potty training: My Big Girl Potty (there's also one for boys) or Mr Rogers' potty book (with real photos of kids), for example. The value of this book, as I see it, is that it shows that even Dora once wore diapers and she made the transition to using the toilet, and that can make a child feel comfortable with the process, interested in it, and eager to be a big kid like Dora. That is well worth the price to me. November 25, 2007 Very cute book - tastefully done My 2 year old daughter loves Dora, so this was a must for me in the pursuit of potty training. I usually keep it in the bathroom so she can look at it while she's on the potty and wanting to do anything but go potty. We are still a work in progress with the potty training. This was not the magic bullet I had hoped for, but I guess I was being unrealistic. My same little pumpkin who recorgnizes almost every alphabet is being very resistant about potty training.
