User Submitted Castle: Medieval Days and Knights (A Sabuda & Reinhart Pop-up Book) ReviewsNovember 17, 2008 Just like the great pop-ups of my childhood I purchased this for my 4-year old as an accompaniment to the castle he's getting for christmas. I am astounded by the quality of this book; it's just like they used to make them. The popups of the castle and the knight are fantastic. The prize however belongs to the interactive pages where the child can pull on tabs to see the workers in the castle at work (hammering nails, weaving, etc), and see two knights jousting. My son has several pop-up books but this one is the best by far. I am amazed at the quality and for the bargain price of $10 it just can't be beat. The description said that these books are essentially 'seconds' but I can't find any flaws anywhere. An overall excellent buy! August 4, 2008 Great Pop-up for my 6 year old I ordered 7 of this pop-up books. One for my six year old and the others all served as great presents for his friends. I like to see the boys' expression when they opened the book and gave off a big "wow". This book comes up with brilliant ideas, and is well crafted. It is both interesting and instructive. Thanks Amazon for this perfect product in a good price. July 8, 2008 My grandsons loved this book I bought this book for two of our grandsons who are 6 and 3 years old. The 3 year old loved the big colorful pop-up pages while the 6 year old loved learning about the story. I, myself, learned a great deal about the medieval days as well. The book is the right size, made well, and very educational. Makes a great gift! June 23, 2008 Great for all ages :) I adore this book and honestly who knew pop up books could be so informative? This book was so much for me to read and great for my little cousin too. She's three years old and she likes to sit on my lap as we look through the pages. Theres even a little catapult inside where you can throw little pieces of paper across the room! (I'll admit I had a bit more fun at that) This book is really a piece of art that I plan to save for her so when she gets older I can give it to her :) that is after I get one for my own collection. Again a great book and an even more fabulous read. May 7, 2008 Beautiful! Well-Crafted! I have looked at Robert Sabuda and Matthew Reinhart's books on their website as well as Amazon.com. I finally bought this book and I love it! The craftsmanship and artistry is beautiful. Children of any age, including adults like me, will love this book! Not only is it well-crafted but it's educational and loads of fun. After this book, I ordered another! April 21, 2008 Beautiful Rendering--High Quality This was a huge hit with my nephew who brought it with him everywhere the first week. He loves playing Runescape, so it was a natural for him. He still loves it, but at least he puts it down while eating! The details are beautiful and it's a high quality pop-up book, well executed, substantial and with great background material. I'm a pop-up fan myself and could have gladly kept it! April 6, 2008 Super! Great pop-up, but Robert Sabuda never fails to delight. Especially liked the house, even has someone using the 'privy'! Kids thought it was super cool and had lots of new terms explained. Good for med. history work. April 5, 2008 Astounding Artistic and material quality and depth are fabulous, I bought three, should have purchased a few more while it was on super sale. March 31, 2008 Quality pop-up! I am usually leery of pop-ups being flimsy and chintzy, but not this one. I bought this as a birthday gift and flipped through after he opened it. I was impressed with the quality of the pop-ups. Would definitely recommend for a youth with an interest in knights, castles, and such. March 25, 2008 A winner My (recently) 6-year-old sucked in his breath when he opened the first page. He's always on the move and a talker so it was gratifying to have him sit and be quiet and this book did it. There aren't many pages but what there is, is filled with enough material to excite any imagination and then they begin talking again (asking questions). The pop-ups are elaborate and well done, full of color and rich with history, including a knighting, how to make various items, a joust, and a razzle-dazzle castle.
