Can You Hop? Review
User Submitted Can You Hop? ReviewsOctober 28, 2005 Adorable book I am pretty fanatical about this book -- bought it for our son when he was about 6 months old and by 11 months he knew how to move like the animals in the book. Watching him learn from this book was exciting for me, and signalled the beginning of "sponge stage" for him. From this point forward, he practically absorbed every book we read together, often being able to complete lines, remember storylines, and even recite books back to us from memory with gentle prompting. We didn't know how much he was capable of, and how fast he could learn, until this book. This was definitely one of his fundamental books during his first 18 months of life. August 26, 2005 My son loves this book!!! My my 22 mos. old son was first read this book almost a month ago at his first day of preschool. When I picked him up from school he kept singing "froggy, froggy, hop, hop, hop" over and over. I asked his teacher about it and she laughed and showed me this book. A few nights later my son would not go to sleep so we let him loose from his crib. He ran into the living room and dug two rubber frogs out of his toy basket, ran back to his room and asked to go "up" into his crib. He waved those frogs around and sang about "froggies" for five minutes while my husband and I listened and giggled in the next room. After that five minutes he fell off to sleep without another protest. I have never seen a book that has gotten such a huge reaction with our son, other than "Jamberry" by Bruce Degen. Unable to find it at our local Border's I am so happy to find it on Amazon! June 21, 2005 Favorite book This is my daughter's favorite book. We have a ton of board books but this is the one she loves the best, never gets tired of it. April 2, 2003 Great for Under Ones! My son loves this book, and has since he was six months old. It has bright pictures. A couple of words each page and they also tell a story (this seems to be a rare combo). The little frog is so expressive and there is heaps that a parent/reader could talk about to a little one on each page. I'm sure it will continue to be a favourite for some time. April 15, 2002 Daughter's favorite The bright simple pictures held my daughter's interest and she continually chooses it as a favorite to read. She did not like to sit still through stories (even short board books) but this kept her entertained. We did motions with each animal as we went through the book and I feel it really helped her learn to enjoy story time. October 25, 2001 a delight A frog who is looking for a friend with a common interest: hopping! Gotta love it. From rhinos to lobsters, the frog asks each successive potential buddy if they hop. Eventually, he finds the right friend to hop with. The artwork is great--very simple but bursting with intense colors. This is perfect a child 6 months old: the story is not too complex and the repetitive phrasing works well for the little ones. A favorite. April 4, 2001 The best first book for baby! My twins have been stimulated by the images in this book since they were 2 months old and now, at 8 months, the book still holds their attention. The simple, bright images can be detected by a very young baby's eyes--at a younger age than any of the other books I have. In the first few days after they first learned to laugh, this book could be counted on to illicit several good laughs from each boy. I would recommend it for anyone with a new baby--you'll get more than your money's worth. July 8, 2000 holds a baby's attention This is a wonderfully colorful and creative book, yet it is simple enough to hold a young baby's attention. Our 5-month old loves this book and I'm sure it is because of the simplicity of the words and the bold uncomplicated illustrations. Other baby books are simply too complicated for her to actually see and comprehend at this point in her young life, but she focuses on this book and really enjoys it. We read it repeatedly to her over the course of a day and she never seems to tire of it. Furthermore, this book easily lends itself to additional creative use: the simple color scheme is useful to teach babies colors, the animals are drawn so that it is easy to count their eyes or ears, etc., and the sounds that each animal makes are easily replicated and amplified by the adult reading the book. I believe that this will be a beloved book in our growing baby library and I hope that this book will help start our daughter on a life-long love of reading. August 23, 1999 One of the most wonderful baby books out on the market today This book is wonderful to read to your child. It is full of fun colorful illustrations that catch the baby's eye's. The words are simple for the child to understand and it is not too long as to loose a young child's attention. It is read at least 10 times a day in out house. We also act out the motions of the aminals with great excitment and fun. For more Can You Hop? reviews click here.
