Caillou: Potty Time (Hand in Hand series) Review
In this delightful story Mommy has a surprise for Caillou: a potty! Though initially uninterested, Caillou eventually decides that he wants to be a "big boy" and learns to ask for the potty when he needs it. He is rewarded with a sense of accomplishment and independence. User Submitted Caillou: Potty Time (Hand in Hand series) ReviewsNovember 5, 2008 Caillou: Potty Time (Hand in Hand series) This book is an excellent way to get kids interested in potty training, especially if they enjoy the Caillou series. My kids love the book! October 28, 2008 Potty Training Getting Easier I purchased this book for my 2 1/2 year old son. Caillou is his favorite cartoon. Although the artist rendition of Caillou does not look exactly like the cartoon figures on PBS or DVD's. My son was able to identify with Caillou in the book. That was step one. The more we put him on the potty (along with ready the book to him while on the potty) the less he fought with my wife and me about potty time. The second big step is that he can recite almost every word on every page. He understands that "everyone goes to the potty". This book has helped. Although every child is different, it may be worth getting the book if your child is a Caillou fan. I believe the most important factor with this book is that your child makes a connection with the cartoon character and for them to understand that there TV idols have to go to the potty! July 27, 2008 Sturdy pages! Short story. We love this book for our 2 year old, who loves Caillou. The illustrations are a bit different from the PBS series, but still recognizable. The story is very short and some of the conversation seems awkward. But still gets the point across. April 10, 2008 Nice book for Caillou fan This is a nice book for a kid who likes the Caillou cartoon. The drawings are a bit different from the cartoon but still recognizable as the Caillou characters from the show. February 13, 2008 It's Caillou, but different It took some discussion to get my daughter to understand that this is the same Caillou that she's familiar with from PBS. Caillou and his family are computer generated in this book and thus they all look drastically different than what she is used to. That being said, she loves the book. She wants to read it on or off the potty. We improvise a bit with the wording because he "has to go" but no one says what he "has to go", but she likes that part too. The book is designed to keep in the bathroom with pages that are durable and easily cleaned. February 7, 2008 It's just ok... The only real complaint that I have is that Caillou's mommy and daddy don't look at all like they do in the show. My son is only 2 and I don't think he even recognizes them. The story in the book is good, it's just that the illustrations are very poorly done. My son loves the newer paperback Caillou books much more and they are cheaper, so I would recommend getting one of those instead. I hope this helps. November 24, 2007 Terrible Book My grandson loves aillou but this book places much emphasis on pleasing his parents instead of doing it for himself. Ugh. And the euphamistic language is insulting. August 24, 2007 Weird little uptight book This book is so tangibily, eerily, uncomfortable with its subject matter, it's bizarre. "Caillou, use the potty when you have to go," says his mother. Elimination is described as "having to go," another six times throughout the story, and that's as specific as it gets. When Caillou's father empties the potty into the toilet, the accompanying illustration shows Caillou standing outside the bathroom door, looking embarrassed. Why? In Caillou's world, potty training is done to please your parents, accomplished without their help, and doesn't involve any of the unseemly details. Pooh pooh. January 11, 2007 Great reading for toddlers! This little book amuses two-year old toddlers dealing with potty training. Caillou is a favorite of my nephew and he identifies with the character. June 24, 2006 What a great book! My Daughter really liked this book and the funniest thing about it was my Husband and I both went up to peek on our Daughter when she was just learning and trying to get the whole potty thing down and there she was sitting there on the potty looking at this book, must of been making sure she was doing it right, she was so into it that she didn't even notice us and we had to leave and starting laughing so hard, was just the cutest thing to see :o) Hope your child loves this book as much as mine did!
