100 Bible Stories, 100 Bible Songs Review
User Submitted 100 Bible Stories, 100 Bible Songs ReviewsJuly 25, 2008 Great way to teach your children If you're looking for a fun way to begin introducing your little one to scripture and application, this is great. I enjoy the songs and the little lessons. My only suggestion for future publications is that the song # be placed as a reference on the story page. As you can imagine, with the large number of songs, if you want to dive into the middle of the book and you don't know the corresponding song number, it's gonna take some effort to find it. I just wrote the #'s in myself so now it's a breeze. The music is energetic and fun and the lessons are well done. Enjoy! July 22, 2008 thorough and non-violent There are many stories in here that don't usually make it into a children's Bible, such as Balaam and the Talking Donkey or Ezekiel and the Dry Bones. I'm very pleased with the selection! More importantly, the text does an excellent job of carefully phrasing the violent parts of stories into something small children can understand (without being scared). Even Abraham's sacrifice of Isaac is taught without the words "kill" or "die" or even "sacrifice." But even with the simplification, the renderings are perfectly accurate. I personally find the CDs rather annoying, but they're not made for adults. May 29, 2008 Just right for 2-3 year olds I'd been looking for a children's Bible that my son could really understand (he recently turned 2). This one has brief stories that his attention span can cope with. At the end of each story, there is a review statement (observation), a statement making the story relevant to today's life (interpretation), and an application statement ("I will pray to God", "I will obey God", etc). Although it's simple enough for my son to understand, my almost 4-year-old daughter enjoys listening as well, and the 3 concluding statements trigger great questions from her. We listen to the CDs in the car, and the songs are great for reinforcing ideas from the stories. I'm glad I found this book, it works really well for both my children. April 11, 2008 The Best for Toddlers! This is absolutely the best bible story devotional for toddlers that I have seen, and I've looked at a lot. I love the application sentences that are short and easy to understand and memorize. The kids LOVE the songs, and can now sing them even when the CD isn't playing, which I love, because they're memorizing biblical truths in song! The pictures are entertaining, and the stories are just the right length for the toddler's attention span (although we usually read 2 or 3 in a sitting). This is DEFINITELY worth buying! March 24, 2008 Good idea - not a good execution I bought this book to use in conjuntion with a sunday school lesson that we teach for 3-4 year olds. The index does not allow you to figure out which of the songs relate to a particular bible story. My main gripe - the CD's were packaged in vinyl envelopes on the inside of the front and back covers of the book. The CD's has chemically reacted to the vinyl and would not play ont he CD player. After some cleaning I was able to remove some of the haze but not completely. Overall - a flop! November 11, 2007 Give as a gift!! My daughter received this as a gift for her first birthday. I have since purchased it for two of her friends' birthdays. Sometimes a CD that comes with a book doesn't have the best vocals or production. Not the case here. I love all of the songs and they are very easy to listen to over and over. And there are ONE HUNDRED of them. The stories in the book are great too. And I really like how the bible story is told on the first page and then recapped in two sentences on the second page, with a third sentence that applies the moral to your child. Get this book!!! September 10, 2007 Great Bible with EXCELLENT CD The Bible stories are good for little ones but the best part is the music CD. My son loves listening to his "Jesus" music all of the time. I don't have any other CD that tops the one that comes with this book. January 20, 2007 The best I could find I was specifically searching for a kids story bible (as opposed to daily devotional or other genres) to give my kids a first look at all the major stories in the scriptures. This one was the most thorough of those which were not more or less a full version of the entire text (that would be too much for my little ones). It covers most, but not all, of the most important narrative sections of both the Old and New Testaments. I'm sure it's difficult to edit such a book and decide what to include and what to cut, but this was pretty well done and pretty much what I was looking for. They like the CD's as well. November 2, 2006 One of the best Bible story books we own We received this as a gift and I have since given 2 copies away as gifts because we love it so much. My son (3 years old) just loves the music that goes along with the stories and it gives us a great way to start our day with a devotional - usually over breakfast. It ministers to my heart tremendously too!! Each page contains a synopsis of the Biblical account in preschooler verbage and then also gives a one-sentence summary truth from the passage (observation), an interpretation statement, and an application statement. This is not only a solid Bible study method but the applications are also very theologically sound! Wonderful!!!! (p.s. But don't expect the same rigor of the songs - they are not always theologically sound or biblically accurate but they are fun and memorable - a good aid to help remember each story.)
