10 Button Book Review
User Submitted 10 Button Book ReviewsDecember 8, 2008 excellent, engaging puzzle, color, more! This is a fantastic book, and the buttons are not irrevocably tangled, even as a display model in the toy store I used to work in. It is one of the few toddler-safe toys that engages on so many levels, and doubles as an excellent travel toy as all the parts are together. This is wonderful for puzzle play, color matching, counting and very early reading. November 30, 2008 Great Book This book keeps my normally short attention-spanned two year-old busy for at least 1/2 hour at a time. True, the ribbons tangle, but I don't care. She LOVES it! November 14, 2008 Absolutely maddening. Terrible execution! I have to add my voice to the chorus of DON'T buy this book. If you can avoid it, don't have it given to you as a gift, either. The ribbons tangle in about five seconds flat, often making them too short for the buttons to reach the page, and the buttons don't stay in the holes, either. The illustrations are cute enough, although not particularly creative or interesting, but the language is simple to the point of mindlessness. There are lots better books and activities for kids out there. July 7, 2008 Tangles, Schmangles... Sure the ribbons tangle on this book. But kids dont mind, and it sort of "adds" another activity for them (untangle the ribbons!). Plus, they untangle quite easily, so I dont see that as a reason to give this book any less than the 5 stars it deserves. This is not really a good "car" book, because it is big and heavy, but my nearly 2 yrs. old son never grows tired of this gem. I plan to get several copies to give as gifts. June 29, 2008 Never Seen a Kid-Magnet like This! I recently had the pleasure of flying with my 17 month old, and all of his toys were old news. We bought this book on the trip, and he was entertained for 3 flights and a 2 hour car trip. His cousins loved it, too. I was amazed that each kid I handed it to immediately started, with no instruction whatsoever, to put the buttons in the holes. I'm sold!!! oh, and yes, the buttons get twisted- big deal! December 23, 2007 My son adores it! Much like 10 Button Book, William Accorsi's earlier effort, this book has ribbons that tangle almost instantly, no matter how you try to prevent it. However, my son doesn't care about that, so why should I? He loves to clank the plastic pieces around, and like other 24-month-olds, he's enthralled with the idea of putting things in their correct place. This book is actually better than "10 Button Book" in a couple important ways: First, the different shapes of the flat plastic pieces add much more interest, compared to having 10 identically round buttons. Second, the buttons in "10 Button Book" never quite matched the color on the printed page. This confused my son, and I couldn't decipher where the buttons were supposed to go, either. The shapes eliminate this confusion and make the whole experience much more fun. I can't imagine a single kid in the world who wouldn't be instantly attracted to this simple puzzle book. Highly recommended! August 26, 2007 Button book My 2 1/2 year old daughter loves this book and tries hard to put the buttons into the holes; however, it takes a bit of pressing at several spots to get them to stay even for an adult. Other than this I think this book is great to learn numbers and colors and putting the circular shape into the round hole. It is interactive and good for those low attention kids. November 25, 2006 A trial, but worth it for my toddler's joy It's true, as other reviewers have mentioned, that the buttons tangle easily and thoroughly. On the other hand, my baby doesn't seem to mind this. On the plus side, my 12-month-old son loves this book so much, it's the first thing he looks for when he wakes up. He spots it across the room, no matter where we've put it, and starts pointing and calling out for it. He can spend 15 minutes easily playing with the book, mouthing the buttons, putting his fingers through the holes on the cover, and clanking the buttons to make a pleasant sound. To see his eyes light up the way they do for this book, I'd put up with a lot more than tangled ribbons. I recommend this book very highly to any parent with a modicum of patiece. October 26, 2005 Despite the ribbons we love this This is a great educational and entertaining book. So what if the ribbons get tangled. Its not that hard to undo them and enjoy the book with your little one. Braiding is not a help because it shortens the strings. My three year old just loves this book. January 15, 2005 the tangle book This book looks so appealing for kids who like manipulating little things and strings. I was definitely drawn in by the strings and colors. This book quickly becomes a book connected to a big tangle of strings and buttons. I actually kind of enjoy untangling them occassionally while I watch TV, but I do this maybe twice a year. The rest of the time the tangle of strings and buttons is a handle for my 15 month old twins to haul the book around by. There are many better activity books out there.
